Ella's Preschool program and Santa!

Ella had her first preschool program this last weekend. She did a wonderful job. She was definetly hamming it up before hand. Then she was moving too much afterwords to get a good picture so you will have to put up with the blurry picture.

Ella and I were driving across town after daycare to go home and here is our conversation:

Ella: Daddy McDonald's has a big W on there.
Daddy: No that is a big M for the golden arches.
Ella: Hmmmm
Ella: Daddy, my nose has an M as well
Daddy: It does?
Ella: Yep.

I turn around to see and she is tracing the top of her nostrils if you notice they are in the shape of an M. Some are larger some are smaller, some are rounder some are pointier, but just the same Ella made the association.

Well, I have been slow on posting things here because I have just had too much fun spending time with the family and watching my daughter grow and learn things. something she has started doing (since it has started getting colder outside) is zipping up her coat all by herself. She wants to be very independent and not have mommy or daddy help her with this. Ella has also started 3 year old pre-school as well and she loves it. She goes to daycare at our church and they have a preschool attatched so we do not have to leave work to take her to school. She takes her backpack, that Rosemary gave her for Christmas and is off on Tuesday and Thursdays. I hope to get some pictures posted, but like I said before, we are terrible at taking photos of everything because all events are special to us but maybe not to the world. So we have memories locked up as a family that if you want to see some come visit us. We have room available, just maybe a couch. :)

Well I know it has been a long time since I put anything on here but I have been putting more things on FaceBook so if you want to see more become my friend there. Otherwise you will just have to take what you get here. :) Anyway, Ella found her name today and has learned to write it, so here are some pictures and video of her new found talent. It makes me so proud. It is just awesome to watch her discover.

Ella was so excited to color eggs. Here she is painting them. Daddy and her had a lot of fun making them pretty.

Then here are some beautiful pictures of Ella. This was her new Easter dress this year. She saw the hat at the store as well and wanted it. We could not resist. I would have to say she was one of the cutest girls at Church this morning. Not that I am one sided or anything, but we got lots of comments. :) Anyway, we enjoyed an Easter at home. The Easter bunny showed up and gave Ella some candy and goodies. After three church services this morning we were invited over by Pastor Randy and family to enjoy a meal. There was a good crowd on hand and we sat and got to know families in the church better and got to play "Farkle." while the kids played. Ella was so wonderful and let mommy and daddy enjoy time with the adults. Not that I am bragging too much but I should have won Farkle but came in Second. For those that were there or have played the game understand that that last round was crazy 3 and 4 thousand points in a round! I'll get them next time. Anyway, enjoy the pictures and start to enjoy spring. It was a bit gloomy here with some sprinkles but that did not stop our spirits and fun time with everyone. Christ is risen indeed!

For those of you who are keeping track and don't believe that the genes don't run deep in the Lorenz/Hayes/Schreiber/Rissman family, here are Ella's measurements at 3.

37 1/2 lbs
41 1/4 inches tall

Yep you can imagine, above the growth charts. However she is perfectly proportionate for her size, which most of you will hear as your children grow up because our parents did as well, she looks older, like 4 or something. She stands a good head over her class in daycare which has 3-5 year old kids. Oh well, she is perfect!

I know I have been behind a bit in the posts, but here are some updated pictures for you from Ella's Birthdays. She had multiple birthday parties and had fun at each one.

Here are her friends that came over for her first party to have some fun. They are all blowing bubbles.

They all enjoyed the cake that Ella and Mommy made for the party and Ella and her friend Shae helped decorate. Notice how much fun they are having eating their cake and ice-cream. We actually had to gravitate over to the neighbors house, Elliot's' house.

Birthday would not be complete without an angel food cake. Ella got to help make this one too and even put the frosting on. She loved it. It was white with sprinkles in it. Homemade no box here.

Grandma promised Ella a special cake from her when she came down so here it is and Ella loved it. We even through in some candles for her to blow out. Then we had cake and Ice-cream. Since Grandpa's birthday is 2 days after Ella's we celebrated that one too. And since Grandma's was a couple weeks after Ella's, we celebrated that one too, hence all of the presents on the table above.

Funny glasses from the kids meal at BK.

We had a few inches of snow a few weeks ago and then 3 days later it was in the 70's. Stange weather. But this was making it a pain to get out of town.

She loves the Baby Bumble Bee song. She got lost in it though and just ends.

She just loves to sing but she lost interest quickly after I got the camera out.

Ella could hardly sing the words. Wonder Pets theme song is what she was trying to get out but she was giggling too much. Just some of the fun we have around here at night as a family.

Over the last few weeks we have had some out of townees visiting us. They were all here to see baby J at Josh and Julies but since we live in the area too they made a trip to see us as well. Including baby Mae. It was a pleasure hanging out with Jeb and Lisa for a couple of days and wish we could see them more. Baby Mae reminded us how high you have to put some things. Fortunately for us Ella isn't taht old yet so we did not have too much stuff in reach. We also found out that our gates on the stairs go up in a second.

Jeri took an extra day off for the weekend to hang out with them before they had to fly out of Omaha. Thanks again Jeb and Lisa for coming to see us.

Karen also got in on the action of visiting us. As some of you know Jeri was in a musical and I was playing drums for said musical and we needed all the help we could get to watch Ella. In come Grandma Karen to help. She even came during the week to hang out with Ella, I came home from work and they were taking a nap so I couldn't resist. Thanks for all the help Grandma.

Here is a random picture of little Joe and Ella and Ma and Pa Emmons cabin. We had a great weekend then too. Some pictures I don't have would be from my wonderful sister and parents that came and watched Ella on the weekend too. Technology is so great but you have to use it if you want. The Benes's came and visited us a couple of weeks ago and we had a good time. We spent the afternoon at the fun factory in Valentino's. I think I had more fun than anyone else, but I am sure that does not surprise anyone.

We spent last weekend visiting our new niece Jentrey. Josh and Julie had another beautiful daughter to bring the J's to 5. Here is Ella wanting to feed the baby. I think she did a wonderful job and did not get too rough with her.

Here is Josh and Julie giving the new one a bath in the kitchen. She only fussed for a bit so I would say Julie did a fine job. :) She is quite the little sweetheart. Jentrey got to sit in Uncle Eric's lap for quite sometime, even got a snoozer in there. Can't wait to see them again.

SNOW DADDY!!!

Well while the adults all complain about the cold and the snow, there is a certain 2 1/2 year old that was excited as all get out for the white stuff that was falling from the sky.

After it cleared off a bit this afternoon, we bundled up and headed outside. You can just see in her eyes that there was nothing she wanted to do more.

Our snow adventure wouldn't be complete without our snow angel (or bunny as Ella calls it). It was the cutest thing I ever saw.

She was just so excited to be out in the snow. It had snowed last week and she got to play in it a little bit but it was only about an inch and didn't last long. We got about 4 inches and so we had to go play in it. The temps have been in the negatives and so it wasn't the warmest out there but with the invention of clothes many years ago we were able to bundle up and play. this has been the most fun I have had at Christmas since I was younger. Don't get me wrong they have been great but until you see the excitement of your own young one, it is not the same. All of you adults know what I am talking about and those of you with younger ones, just wait.

I know it is cold and snowy, but remember this little ones smile and it will warm you up. "I want to go out and play in the snow daddy."

Here are some random pictures of Ella having fun! I know everyone has been waiting for me to put more posts on so here is a quick fix for you. Need to get more pictures to put on here. Ella is growing like a weed and everyday she discovers something new that she can do and it is amazing to watch her develop in front of our eyes. Grandma and Grandpa L were here last weekend to watch Ella during our City Singers concert and spent some good time with her. Nana said she has changed a lot since Thanksgiving even. We couldn't agree more. They grow too fast and I wish we could keep our little girl little but that isn't going to happen so....

Jeri's work had a party at the bowling alley and Ella spent the night helping us bowl! It was fun.

Here is a picture Nana took of Ella in her new Sleepy George pajamas. She also snuck a powdered doughnut.

And, like any kid born after the year 2000, Ella wanted to see the picture Nana had just took and Nana got her in mid jump to see. Remember when you had to get film developed..... They still take the best pictures.

Don't get me wrong it is nice to see if you actually got the picture you wanted.

I don't have a picture for this one because we did not want Ella to stop. She came up to us and said she wanted to wash some dishes. So we filled the sink up with soapy water and let her have at it. We figure soon she will be saying no to the dishes so we better take advantage of it. I wish she would slow down on the growing up part. She needs to be my little girl longer.

Random Stuff

As some of you know I work for a cable company in town and one of the perks is internet and tv services. Well the other day we were allowed as employees to get the 16meg internet speed. This is great for this blog because it takes like seconds to upload pictures. Now I know you are all saying that then he should be able to get more pictures up here. The problem now comes in what the camera takes. you have to have the thing out and taking pictures before you can load them onto your computer. I wish we could keep up more with that but we just have so much fun with Ella that we forget sometimes.

The other thing is that many of you know that I play drums. About a year ago or so I started playing drum set at our church for the contemporary service. I love it. It is a chance for me to just let loose. The power of music is great and being able to play music for God is even better. Come visit us sometime and come to our church and listen. I thought I would also attach this web link for a local (well sort of) radio station. It is called MY BRIDGE RADIO. It can be heard accross NE and now world wide becuase it is on the web. This is the type of music that we play and typically we try to keep the top ten in our groups. Some of the DJ's are here in Grand Island and we actually know them so that makes it even cooler. So if you ever need a message from God, give it a listen. It lifts me up. Thanks for your time and can't wait for Thanksgiving to see all our family.

Butterfly Princess

The excitement for going out for Halloween was apparent.

Ella wanted to show off each part of her costume that she picked out.

Down to her special shoes.

She got to the top of the steps and stopped and said "look at my wings daddy." How can you not melt with that.

We have one of the best daycare places out there. They helped the kids make these Care Bear costumes for trick or treating at daycare. I came to pick Ella up and she was painting this so I know she did it. She loves to paint.

When we went to the store to get a costume we were not sure how it was going to go. As many of you know there are millions out there and trying to get a 2 and a 1/2 year old to make a decision that she will like in a couple of weeks we figured would be a challenge. Not for our little smart one. She looked at all sorts of costume and picked this one out. we showed her others and she was certain this was the one. And to see her light up when she put it on at Halloween was priceless. Running around the neighborhood she would go up to the door and say "trick or treat" which was the cutest and people loved giving her more candy then she needed. Thanks to all our friends that we saw this wonderful night. Ella also wants to say thank you to mommy for carrying her when she got cold. It was a beautiful fall night but I think she thought she could get mom. Trick!

Pumpkin Decorating

Daddy's Weekend

Jeri spent some time with her friend from college and so Ella and I got to spend some time together. We went to the "Scarecrow Pumpkin Patch" here and had a lot of fun. Ella really liked the bunnies. We also went out to get some pumpkins to decorate. Pictures and story to follow on that. If you ever want to spend some time in NE, fall is a good time to see all the good pumpkins. This place has all sorts of things for kids of all ages to do. Ella got to play in some corn, like daddy used to, and water games, see farm animals and slide down some different slides. We were going to partake in the pumpkin ice cream but the pumpkins we picked took all the money in dad's pocket so we had to miss.

Coloring

Now I know this might look a bit wierd but Ella loves to color and will sit there for hours and color. After all of the fun of the dancing and singing she decided to color to her favorite DVD. Celtic Women (playing in the background). This is for her grandmothers who teach and notice things like pencil holding and such. Just a relaxing little video of Ella coloring and being a good girl like she most always is.

All of a sudden the other day she decided to to start swinging her leg. she holds onto her bed or the chair or anything she can get a hold of and starts "dancing like Barbie". It might be time to get her into some dance classes or something, huh.

Harvest of Harmony Parade

I am sure as most of the family knows that Osmond has a pretty kick-butt band and this year at the 67th anual Harvest of Harmony parade was no different. The took best in class D, and best overall band in the parade! They were rocking. Follow the link and go to class D and watch Osmond. Daddy and Ella were even in the parade! Charter had a group marching and Ella road along with and helped daddy hand out some candy and stuff. However, when we got to the big crowd of people and all the kids came around us to get candy and stuff from Ella she got a little scared. Word to parents, keep your kids on the curb.

Went fishing with the "guys" a couple of weekends ago and it was fun. Spent 3 days on the Great Alma Fishing Float! http://www.almafishingfloat.com
It was a lot of fun and will enjoy going back next year for more luck at fishing. Below are some pictures of the fun. You will notice I am not in any of the pictures because I was not lucky enough to land any of the big fish that I hooked. Need to work on landing the big ones. I hooked them but they turned into big fish story's.

The girls at daycare just love playing with Ella's hair. The last few days they have done up her hair really cute. It has some natural curl to it when it is moist out. Here are some pictures of her just goofing off with daddy downstairs. Her hair is getting so long, now if she would just let our hair person cut it without a big tado then we would be good. Potty!

Well, I know I need to do some more posts but I had to put this one in for Grandma's. Ella has all of a sudden decided she is potty trained. She has been going in the potty and letting us know when she has to go. She just goes upstairs and has no problem with it. She has a little stool in the bathroom that she puts in front of the toilet and puts her little tush down and does the job. When we try to help her she gets all upset and says "no mommy/daddy, I do it". We have only had two problems, one when her pants were too tight for her to pull down and the other when her toilet seat was not put down (I think all of you women know what she went through, and it was not pretty). Thank you to my older sisters for teaching me to PUT THE SEAT DOWN! We are so proud of Ella and she is so proud of herself, she comes running down the stairs and yells "I went potty!"

Wedding Fun

Well, I am finally getting to post some pictures from the fun time we spent with family. Here are what we have. We really enjoyed all the time we spent with everyone and wish we could get together more often. This post is also there for all at the wedding that was saying we need to update our posts. I like others look throught them regularly to see what everyone is up to. I need to work at getting mine posted more often so that you all can see my cute daughter doing what she does best... Being cute!

KJ's son Oscar and I hung out for a while and had a good time. He is quite the kid and really enjoyed seeing him and KJ. Need to do more of that too. The picture is not the greatest of me. I am like in mid-smile there I think, caught me off guard I think.
Then there was little Danya as well was good playing in the pool with her and Laura.

Then Ella decided she had enough and snuggled up to sleep.

The one thing I am very disappointed in is the lack of pictures we got of Oliver. We just didn't have any that turned out too well. I especially enjoy spending time with Margaret and Jeremy. Jeri and I both thought we were going to throw Oliver through the roof though when we picked him up. He is so light and compared to Ella we were a bit surprised.

3rd of July Party

Each and every year, we have a 3rd of July Fireworks/Corn on a Stick party.

Friends and family come from all over to have fun.

The fireworks party is pretty easy to explain. we spend a bunch of money on explosive things and when the sun goes down we start launching them. The best part of the show is watching our good friend Scott light them and run away. Most of our friends are theatre people so that about sums that up.

The "Corn on a Stick" part is not as easy to explain but this tradition goes back many years. Some friends of ours were on the coast and saw these vendors pushing little carts around and he was selling this contraption of an ear of corn and some wierd spices and stuff. Well they brought it back to the Cornhusker state and we started doing it here. With a few modifications it isn't as bad as you think (those of you who have come to partake in the festivities). All others must try and get here one of these years and try it. We have about 40 or so people that come and have fun at our house.

Ella was real happy before the fireworks started. (After they started she and her friend Sam below decided that they were not interested in them. Sam went home and Ella went in the house with mom and Nana to get away from them. Broke our hearts, she kept screaming I want to go home.)

Good time had by all though. Don't forget to add it to your calander for next year on the 3rd of July we will have our 9th anual party!

I bet you have been wondering what the heck happened to the young Lorenz's. Well we are still here and are surviving but have been extremely busy with the summer musical that we help with and the 3rd of July party we do. So I am going to post some things and catch people up. Of course Nana and Papa Lorenz have been able to drop by a couple times and keep up with the little weed that is growing past 2. And Ella even got to spend a couple of days with Joelie and Jessie and her Aunt Julie and Uncle Josh that she just never stops talking about.

Basically, there was a motorcycle coming up from behind on an access road and he must of thought he could make it by us. We were turning left into a parking lot and he t-boned us. Jeri's work CopyCat took us a to a crane watching VIP booth on the river for an evening to watch the birds come in. This was quite a site and I recomend it to everyone that wants to see the birds. We have connections so we could work on some good spots for you. There are millions of birds that come through daily so quite the thing to see. These do not do them justice.

Daddy's and Ella's Big day

Mommy had a girls weekend and so Daddy and Ella had that weekend to themselves. Since it was nice weather we decided to go to the park in the neighborhood. Ella got a Pooh kite from the Easter Bunny so we had to try that out. Unfortunately Daddy did not have enough hands to take a picture of that but the kite flew great. Then they had a few slides that Ella wanted to try, daddy even tried a few times. Then we headed home for more fun. Here are just a few pictures I took with my phone to show the fun we had. She loves the slides. She also likes to ride in her little cart. It's a little bubble for her. :)

About a year ago, Ella competed in a contest for babies and won. She got a crown and trophies. In our cleaning the last few weeks we had these down where she could get them. So she was walking around with her shopping cart and her crown. Daddy's little princess. I think she could win again.

Our friends from Lincoln (Carrie, James, and little Joe) gave Ella some cute horse pj's. They fit perfectly and are really soft. I wish I could fit into them. These are just some pictures of her playing around right before bed.

Here is a cute picture of Ella and Danya. These two got to meet for the first time in MN a few weeks back and Ella wanted to touch her hands. Pretty cute.

I bet everyone has been wondering what the heck. It has been pretty crazy around here and have not had a lot of time to do many pictures or posts. So I thought I would throw this picture into the mix. A little miss Ella now thinks "Peter Pan" is the best thing to watch. She loves to sit in the Elmo chair that her aunt Jen gave here for her birthday last year. We turned the laughter off on the chair so that isn't going anymore. :) Now every night when we get home from daycare we have to watch pan and sing along. You should see some of her indian actions. I would try to get video but she wants to see what I am doing so I do not get anything. Same with pictures, hence the lack of them.
Anyway, in case nobody heard or knew Ella's birthday falls on Easter Sunday which is something that won't happen for quite sometime again. You all will have to check that out when it will again but I know it is just like her Grandma's and doesn't happen often in the lifetimes. Anyway, enjoy the picture and I hope to get some more on here for you. Just don't have many pictures right now.

First Haircut

Ella is growing up so fast. Last night she got her first "haircut". It was more of just a trim to straighten things out but hair was cut just the same. She did excellent. I got my hair cut right before hers so she knew what was going on. Karen, our hairdresser, was awsome. She had some toys for her to play with and didn't push any issue with Ella that she didn't want. She did fill her up with Tootsie Rolls so by the end of things, Ella was getting a little sugar rush and squirming. All and all a good time. Next time she might let Karen curl it for her.

Here are some pictures from the night of Halloween. Ella was a little Bubmble Bee. Seemed to be a huge theme this year as everyone was dressing up as one or their dogs. For those of you that know me I always have called Ella my little Ella "B" She likes it and i think it fits her. She got lots of candy from our friends and special treats from them too. I think the candy was more for us. :) Anyway, thougt I would share the fun picks with ya. Love to all.

Here is the end result of a pumpkin that Ella started helping me with and then had to go to bed. We were not thinking and did not get the camera while she was cleaning out the inside but she did clean a lot of the guts out. She was pretty cute. Our hands were a mess though so that is why we forgot the camera.

Well, I have been meaning to put some stuff up here for everyone to see. There has been a lot going on and I need to keep everybody up to date. Here are some pictures from the last few weeks that I thought were cute. A couple of these are from tonight. Ella is getting big and more and more active. Words are starting to come as well.
The ones with the red gear on is from the ride along that I did in Kansas City with my sister Jen. I will have another post with some of that on it. But now Ella thinks that it is her stuff and she loves to run around the house with it. Well keep checking back and eventually I will get things on here.

I am sure most of you have seen on the TV the comercial that makes fun of everyone that has the number 8. Well the time has come to where that is reality. Stupid DEI will not make a agreement with Hendrick to where they could take the number so now Jr. will have to change his number. I guess it is only fitting, his grandfather drove the number 8 and so it should stay under the name that is destroying the Earnhardt name. Teresa never met Jr.'s grandad so I am sure she feals nothing about it. Anyway, I have not posted for a while and need to get some stuff on here but this news warranted a post. I guess I will have to take my stuff off the car.

Jeri's 30th Birthday

Jeri had a good time at her suprise birthday party. We kept it a big secret, even with all of our friends adn family standing in the garage waiting for everyone (and the cake) to arrive. Some friends kept her busy in the house while I started the grill and got the burgers going (and singe some hair since the fire was going crazy). We all had a good time and lots of people showed up for the festivities and braved the cool wet weather. Couldn't keep the small rain cloud away for a while but after it left... Thank you to our good friend and State Farm Agent (like a good neighbor) Greg S. for making the cake. Also thanks to the Millers, Skeeter, Spencers, and Jeannee for help arranging the party and helping with the supplies. Our third of July party looks to be ready for the next gathering. Hope to see everyone agian.

Sorry i have not posted anything new for a while but I have been extremely busy building the set for the new GILT ahow adn planning Jeri's surprise 30th Birthday party. Thank you to all that came, we had a good time. I have a couple of pictures but it is going to take a while, I am playing drums for the show that i built the set for. So as soon as life slows down I will post some more.

Here is Daddy's Big fish that he caught!

Joelie and Ella loved walking around tegether.

Jessie loved riding her trike all over, she is pretty fast on it.

Ella and Jessie got to try out the two seater to the beach. It attaches to the back of Dad's bike so Ella and him can go for rides around the neighborhood.

We went up to Yankton and spent the weekend with Jeri's brother and his family at their recently purchased Cabin on the river (it was in the family they just took over). We had lots of fun and we celebrated Jeri's birthday! Ella and the girls went to the beach and played in the sand while the boys were out fishing. Eric was the big fisherman this weekend catching a couple of bass. He was very excited and proud to have brought home the food. :) Jim Kilburn helped fry it up for breakfast the next morning and Ella tried some and liked it. All weekend was a fun time and wish we could spend more time with family but we all have to work so we came back home but here are some pictures of the exciting weekend.

Here are some pictures from Easter. We enjoyed a weekend in Ohio with Grandma and Grandpa Schreiber. We also stopped at Great Grandma Schreiber's along the way to rest and boy was that helpfull in the middle of the 16 hour drive. Jeb and Lisa and Jon were there as well.
